While photography is a passion on mine, blogging on the other hand has never been something of interest to me. However, as I reflected last week on my first year of business, I decided to take the plunge - maybe it will be something I do every March.
Speaking of, last March I made the decision to make a huge move with my passion. I'd done photography for a while and started to really like the work I was producing, and I wanted to do more. More so, at the same time, my husband was talking about transferring to other military bases, which would mean having to find a new job. For those that don't know, I am a Reading Specialist at a special education school and trying to transfer teaching licenses (and I have 3) is harder than playing darts with spaghetti. I wanted to have something to take with me that wouldn't require months of waiting to get a new license and then months of searching for a teaching position.
On a whim, I decided to sign up with weddingwire.com for their free account, just to get started. I must have been clicking around one day and clicked on a link for more information about increasing my chances of getting hired. I wasn't necessarily looking to sign up for a professional account with them at the time, but after some research and debating, I decided to jump for it. Afterwards, I remember laying on the bed staring at the ceiling and wondering, "What the hell did I just do?!?" I remember having this knot in the pit of my stomach for a few days, scared that I had made a huge mistake. However, to my complete surprise, I ended up booking my first wedding within my first week of having the listing - I'll be shooting that wedding next month.
